The IPL Mega Auction didn’t seem to have any impact of the pandemic on the purses of the franchises
There were around 100 players who went under the hammer. There was huge amount which was spent on the talented players.
If we speak about striking a balance at the auction? Lucknow Super Giants was on point with their choices.
The limelight of the auction at Day 1 was all on the Indian contingent players. Ishan Kishan bagged the biggest price of 15+ Cr. There was a huge battle for the young Indian pocket dynamo between CSK and Mumbai. It was Mumbai who bid the best.
Another interesting factor that got the viewers attention was the heavy purse spent on the uncapped Indian players. Many players with a base price of mere 20-40 lac went for Crores. Aavesh khan was the highest bidded uncapped player for a whooping 10Cr by the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants.
Biggest Buys
Ishan Kishan. 15.25 cr Mumbai Indians Deepak Chahar. 14 Cr 14cr CSK. Shreyas Iyer. 12.25Cr KKR.
What does 2nd day has?
Not much of heavy purse spending but more of a strategical buying. It’ll be interesting to see if any player gets the big buy at the 2nd day of the auction.
