The Spanish goalkeeper, who joined United in 2011 from Atlético Madrid, left Old Trafford this summer as a free agent, eventually signing with Serie A side Fiorentina.

David De Gea to Leave Manchester United

“Man United is a top, top club and my heart will always be there,” De Gea said in a recent interview. “I never thought about retiring, it was just difficult to find motivations for a new chapter after 12 years at a top club like Man United.”

De Gea, who won several trophies during his time at United, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League, admitted that he found it hard to move on from the club he called home for so many years. However, he eventually found the motivation he was looking for at Fiorentina.

“I finally felt that at Fiorentina,” he said, expressing his excitement about the new challenge ahead.

A Mixed Reaction

De Gea’s departure from United was met with mixed reactions from fans and pundits alike. While some praised his loyalty and dedication to the club, others criticized his decision to leave, arguing that he still had much to offer at the highest level.
