Russell Outdrives Everyone, Hamilton Takes Second in Thrilling Mercedes 1-2 at Belgian Grand Prix

In a stunning display of skill and strategy, George Russell claimed his second win of the 2024 Formula 1 season at the Belgian Grand Prix, holding off teammate Lewis Hamilton to secure a Mercedes 1-2 finish. The race at Spa-Francorchamps was a nail-biting affair, with Russell’s bold one-stop strategy proving decisive in the final stages.

Russell, who started from sixth on the grid, made an early pit stop on lap 10 and then managed his tires brilliantly for the remainder of the race. This allowed him to maintain track position and fend off a late charge from Hamilton, who had to settle for second despite leading for much of the race.

Russell Wins Belgian Grand Prix 2024

“I’m absolutely over the moon,” Russell said after the race. “The team did an incredible job with the strategy, and the car felt great throughout the race. It was a tough battle with Lewis, but I’m thrilled to come out on top.”

Hamilton, who had been hoping to secure his first win of the season, praised his teammate’s performance. “George drove a fantastic race, and he deserved the win today,” he said. “We had a great battle, and it was a lot of fun out there. I’m happy for the team to get a 1-2 finish.”

The result was a major boost for Mercedes, who have struggled to match the pace of Red Bull and Ferrari for much of the season. The team will be hoping to build on this success as the season progresses.
