Verstappen, who had started from pole position, maintained a steady lead for most of the race. However, Norris, in a determined effort to secure his second win of the season, closed the gap significantly towards the end. The final laps saw Norris within DRS range, but Verstappen managed to fend off the challenge, crossing the finish line just 0.725 seconds ahead of the McLaren driver.
“It was a tough race, especially the last 10, 15 laps, when I had no grip anymore,” Verstappen said after the race. “It’s very difficult when the tires are not working anymore, and you have to go flat out. I couldn’t afford to make too many mistakes.”
The win extends Verstappen’s lead in the championship standings to 48 points over Charles Leclerc, who finished third for Ferrari. This victory marks Verstappen’s fifth win in seven races this year, showcasing the dominance of the Red Bull team and the exceptional skill of the Dutch driver.

The race also saw a strong performance from Norris, who has emerged as a serious contender this season. “It hurts me to say it, but one or two more laps, I think I would have had him,” Norris said, highlighting the competitive spirit and the close margins in Formula One racing.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished third, marking a significant achievement for the Italian team at their home race. The podium finish was Ferrari’s first at Imola since 2006, adding to the celebrations for the Tifosi.
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was not without its share of drama, with Verstappen being warned about track limit violations and Norris pushing the Red Bull driver to the limit in the final laps. The race also saw a strong performance from the McLaren team, with Oscar Piastri finishing fourth.
