The layoff festival doesn’t seem to be ending at WWE. Initially reported by Lucha libre online via their Twitter handle that WWE has released the veteran Spanish commentator Carlos Cabrera after 29 years with the company. The reasons for his departure remain unknown.
Carlos Cabrera has been a homegrown voice of the WWE Spanish universe. He has been behind the Commentary table for the shows such as RAW, Smackdown, and many pay-per-views such as Wrestlemania for the Spanish audiences.
He is best known for manning the booth with partners Hugo Savinovich and later Marcelo Rodriguez. Given the duration of his stint, he is one of the most recognizable voices in sports entertainment.
He is the only person to voice a maximum number of Wrestlemania’s in the history of the WWE.
Layoffs on a record stint
Since the pandemic broke in early 2020 there have been big names who have been axed from the company. The budget cuts remain to be on the go as the list of personnel released is growing year by year.
The list not only includes superstars but also backstage personals. Legendary referee Mike Chioda is one name that came as a shocker for the WWE fans. The list doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. The list is expected to add a few more before it all ends.
